The Central Asian-Inspired Jero Yurt Can Be Transported in a Car
Rahul Kalvapalle — August 27, 2014 — Art & Design
Scottish company Trakke developed the Jero yurt after drawing inspiration from traditional Central Asian yurts while searching for a modern shelter design.
The Jero yurt can serve as an extra bedroom, a basic off-grid living space or a retreat. It is towable by bike and is designed to be easy to assemble in just a few hours without special tools.
The yurt is constructed from canvas and plywood and uses stainless steel hardware and polyester rope. It weighs only 110 kg, while traditionally made yurts the same size can weigh ten times as much. It measures 3.9 x 2.6 x 1.64 feet when folded, meaning it can be easily stuffed into a car.
The Jero Yurt is available for purchase for around $7,460.
