The iRobot company latest and enhanced model PackBot 510 is said to be 30 percent faster than the existing generation model, double the gripping power and capable to tow bigger objects and pick up two times the weight of its predecessor. The PackBot 510 has been set with a new hand controller that the iRobot says has been copied after video game controllers, apparently decreasing the total of preparation desired to activate the robot.
Implications - Robotics, and indeed computerized automatons in general, have seized the attention of the tech-savvy population for some time now. Although the technology is still in its infancy, businesses should endeavor to include cultural references to robots and automated machinery in their products, thereby capturing the attention of the robot-loving demographic.
