Glowing Socket With Electricity Meter
Alex Covert — March 23, 2008 — Eco
This is eco-application at it's finest. The glowing socket is a design for something we use every day but rarely give any thought to. The socket works like a regular one except it has a built in electricity meter that shows the amount of power being used. The glowing socket was designed by Shane Ellis and Terry Brown.
Implications - The two designers placed a hidden LED light inside the sockets which enable the whole thing to light up. The more power traveling through the socket, the brighter the socket glows red. If you don't want the light to shine, you can always press a button on top of the socket to shut it off.
