An inflatable rescue stretcher was emerging creative Malo Sahores' design-forward answer to tending to remote populations during times of crisis. Titled Air-Mat, the concept is spotlighted in the Dezeen x L'École de design Nantes Atlantique school show.
A student at L'École de design Nantes Atlantique, Malo Sahores was reflecting on "how best to rescue an accident victim in an isolated environment in Quebec." This is definitely not an isolated concern as many specialized rescue teams find themselves in dicey situations trying to save people during severe climate conditions, precarious infrastructures, and/or remote locations that are hard to access.
Air-Mat is an inflatable rescue stretcher that is "lightweight, innovative, and agile." The design can be deflated while in transport and deployed once the victim has been reached.
