These collaged illustrations by Sandra Chevrier are visually striking and beautiful. The Montreal-based artist has a distinctive style whereby females faces are painted and then obscured by shredded up bits of comics.
The results make it look as if the women have been silenced or masked, as the busy comic book patterns cover their faces entirely. Some of the comic books seem to tell action packed stores with emotional scenes being played out on the ladies faces and dramatic speech bubbles.
These amazing illustrations are sure to go over well with fans of urban art. I can imagine Sandra Chevrier's works being displayed at a restaurant or cafe, or even on display in an urban apartment.
