The 'Illumiknobi' doorknob is a clever fixture for the home that will help to provide visual guidance after dark to prevent inhabitants from fumbling around after the sun has set. Designed by the Pin & Tumbler Studio, the doorknob is outfitted with an illuminating section on the rear that will cast light onto the area behind it to help it be instantly visible from afar. A proximity sensor within the knob itself will keep an eye out for movement and automatically turn it on when someone is detected in the area.
The 'Illumiknobi' doorknob is powered by a coin-cell battery that will provide about a year's worth of functionality before requiring replacement. The knob could eliminate the need for traditional nightlights or the need to keep lights on throughout the night for increased power savings.
