Huddle by David Graas, a designer based in Haarlem, The Netherlands, is a stunning sculpture revolving around the basic light bulb. Yet there is nothing basic about this series. Somehow a miniature city has sprouted from the surface of the light source. Of course, this didn't happen through magical means. Instead, it was achieved through the advancement of 3D printing.
Created in both floor and pendent versions, Huddle by David Graas was inspired by the idea of survival. The designer writes, "The mega city, despite its many problems, seems to be our destined habitat now that resources are becoming scarce. It also hold the key to a sustainable future with its concentration of information, technology and talent." In this way, the buildings 'huddle' together in order to create a system of solidarity.
