Holloway Li designs the new London home found in Highbury with inspiration drawn from the looks of fast food shops in the city. It takes a converted Victorian home and renovates it with a new angle to become home to Holloway and his partner Elle Parmar Jenkins. The process started with removing the master bedroom in order to create an open living space and add more windows.
Holloway Li talks about the space to Dezeen, stating that "We exposed and retained the original timber verge beam keeping all the screws and not cleaning it up at all. We wanted to express the formation of the external butterfly roof internally by opening up the ceilings to show the vaulted geometry internally. This is what London is – a mix of high and low always across the road from one another. It's part of what makes it interesting, and having grown up here it was important to add those vernacular visual flavors into the space."
