Tumblr artist 'Fly Art Productions' reimagines famous paintings by infusing them with popular hip-hop lyrics. While several artists have sought to reinterpret classical works of art, this series puts a musical twist on the iconic images. Although you won't find these works in any museum, they offer a unique take on two very different artistic mediums.
To create the rap-inspired illustrations, the artist begins by selecting classical works of art from painters such as Magritte and Botticelli. He then brands these famous images with hip-hop lyrics that correspond to the theme of each painting. These lyrics are taken from a number of popular hip-hop artists, including Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Big Sean. By blending old word paintings with contemporary music, the artist manages to merge two completely different styles of artwork.
