COLINES, in collaboration with ExxonMobil, has introduced a new stretch film product that integrates sustainability with performance. The High Tenacity Hand Wrap film, unveiled at NPE 2024, incorporates 35% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material. This innovative film is characterized by its low thickness, measuring at 8 microns, and is designed for both manual and automatic application. The film’s notable features include the ability to offer 50-100% prestretch, which is indicative of its high quality and excellent retain force characteristics. The thin gauge of the film is engineered to support high line speeds, reaching up to 600 m/min, and ensures consistent roll-to-roll quality due to its ‘great flow’ at the edges.
The development of the High Tenacity Hand Wrap film is a testament to the collaborative efforts of ExxonMobil and COLINES’ R&D department. The film formula includes Enable 1617, a raw material also launched at NPE, which contributes to the film’s high-flow and high melt strength properties. This collaboration has resulted in a product that not only demonstrates great processability but also showcases the versatility of COLINES’ ALLrollEX lines for stretch film extrusion. These extrusion lines are equipped with an in-line edge folding system and benefit from the integration of artificial intelligence technology through the Virtual Production Assistant MASTERMIND, which automates operations and reduces the need for human intervention. The continuous filter feature of the ALLrollEX lines further enhances production efficiency by allowing uninterrupted operation without the need for filter replacement.
