Japanese architect Kengo Kuma works in collaboration with Swedish furniture imprint Gärsnäs to create the HidaHida chair. It is a fabric-clad structure that merges elements of Japanese and Scandinavian influence. Crafted from beech wood, it is covered in textile or leather materials and nods to the tradition of wood craftsmanship that fuses the two influential cultures.
The CEO of Gärsnäs, Dag Klockby shares the design process, noting "We are proud to present a furniture design that communicates both Scandinavian and Japanese influences in its materials and form, with high quality, functionality and comfort. This is classical woodwork in combination with innovative upholstery techniques." The textiles that cover the silhouette hangs below the seat to showcase the draped design.
