Hims launched a new group therapy service, as the company’s inaugural mental health service. The company is a health startup that provides consumers with options for out of pocket online healthcare. Hims initially began working on mental health initiatives, and its group therapy service, eight months previous. However, due to the outbreak of COVID-19 the organization fast-tracked the service to meet expected increases in demand. The increase in demand could arise from many people fearful of the novel virus, or individuals who need to cope with the new reality of remaining in place for extended periods of time.
Andrew Dudum, the founder and chief executive of the organization, spoke about the new venture, “here is a big need in our customer base to help them with areas of anxiety, stress, and depression… There is nothing more stigmatized than mental health.”
