The Great Escape Series by PZZL Challenges Function
Amy Duong — September 10, 2018 — Art & Design
French design studio PZZL created a new and unique furniture collection entitled 'The Great Escape' using aluminum ladders to construct the pieces. This borders the line that exists between the concept of rest and the idea of movement, which challenges the ambiguous border of real use and potential use in its function. There is a sense of escapism through different furniture elements that act as the potential components for a brief escape, as explained by the team at PZZL.
The Great Escape collection is comprised of three furniture pieces in total -- there is the lounge chair, a stool and an ottoman -- all of which boast the same idea as the structural foundation is made using aluminum ladders and the seating is constructed from foam, plywood, and wool felt.
