The Gravity Candle Holder has been aptly named. Although its spiky surface hints at its gravity-defying properties, the name refers more to the process than the outcome. Like its predecessor, the Gravity Stool, it is fashioned using a unique magnet machine dubbed the Gravity Tool--no surprise there. This tool projects a strong magnetic field that manipulates the mixture of resin and iron oxides that the Gravity Candle Holder is made out of. Once the desired shape is achieved, the material cures in about 30 minutes.
Designed by Dutch designer Jólan van der Wiel, the Gravity Candle Holder has a Gothic aesthetic that will appeal to those who tend towards darker, more dramatic home decor.
