In the United Staes, Google Assistant in Waze is becoming available, the new function was also announced at Google I/O 2019. The Google Assistant functions the same way in Waze as it does elsewhere, with Google's four dots showing up and making responses to the user's voice. When Google Assistant is activated in the app, the map darkens somewhat and the Assistant appears over the distance bar and cuts off some of the map controls.
Standard Google Assistant controls are in the Waze app, including the ability to play music or listen to a podcast, hands-free messaging as well as placing and answering phone calls. However Google Assistant in Waze has some specific commands, including users reporting potholes with their voice and the ability to request an alternative route.
