The 'Ammos' glass speaker system is an eco-minded audio solution that aims to combat against technology products that can't be repaired by consumers or easily recycled after use. The unit starts off with glass components that are paired with bamboo panels, an aluminum frame, natural rubber for seals, ABS for housing parts and aluminum PCBs to help with enhanced heat dissipation. The speaker can be connected to via WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity, while also maintaining a USB-C and 3.5mm headphone ports.
The 'Ammos' glass speaker system is the design work of Martin Steffner, Emilio De Jonghe, Orelio De Jonghe, Dimitrios Seleridis, Rick Cazemier and Thor Gerard, and is the winner of the James Dyson Award for 2020. The team hopes to promote recycling and repair within the consumer electronics industry.
