Chairs that convert into beds aren't exactly new, but what's unique about the Girella -- designed by Lorenzo Damiani -- is the manner in which the transformation from chair to bed takes place. This chair seamlessly transforms from armchair to mattress in an unbelievably simple manner.
In its armchair mode, the Girella is pretty small and seems to be designed for kids, as it's only about 70 cm high and 62 cm across, with the seat 41 cm above ground level.
When rolled out, the Girella is a small single-sized mattress measuring 193 x 80 cm, making it slightly smaller than a regular single bed. The assembly is anything but complicated -- the chair can literally be rolled out into a mattress as it is made of soft polyurethane foam with polyester padding.
