This giant picnic table designed by Benedetto Bufalino is intended to make sitters look extra small. Otherwise a seemingly normal wooden table, 'La table pique nique' stands at over 6 feet tall. This offers full grown adults the opportunity to feel like small children again as they sit on the bench or stand beneath the massive table. The oversized furniture is open to the public, and is currently installed in Saint-Exupery in Colomiers, France.
The artist conceived the giant picnic table to demonstrate how easy it is to manipulate a mundane space and affect one's sense of visual reality. The playful piece also serves as a reminder of the importance of perspective and the need to look at things and situations from different angles.
