Designer Anne Kitzmiller, in collaboration with plumbing and appliances giant Kohler, developed this trough prep sink. The sink is a high-tech device with an electronic interface and garbage disposal synchronization. It also has a controlled rinse cycle with color coded alert buttons.
I have mixed feelings about this design. This trough container, which resembles a gutter, is limited in the way you can use it because of its narrow shape. I don't quite like it.
Implications - Anne Kitzmiller's high-tech trough sink utilizes Active Touch technology that creates a safe interface which is only activated by human touch, preventing accidental activation by pots, pans, forks, or any other kitchen items. The short rinse cycle is indicated by a consistent blue glow and synchronized garbage disposal cycle.
