Future Shape has come up with a design to help the elderly or disabled people in emergency situations. The SensFloor is equipped with motion sensors that detect whether or not someone has fallen, and can even call for help.
Aesthetics have also been taken into consideration for the design. Instead of being placed on top of a carpet, the product is situated underneath so that users do not have to alter interior decorations drastically. Another essential function of the rug is the sensors that turn the lights on when a person steps on the floor (again, perfect for an elderly individual with poor eyesight or even someone who is blind).
The system by Future Shape has already been installed in a care home in France, with extra safety and happy residence members as the result.
