The Fused Chair is a sculptural representation of the limitless possibilities surrounding sustainable furniture design.
Fused was created using discarded wooden dining chairs, paper clay, plaster and paint. To make this amphibious piece of furniture, the designer took varying parts from five different chairs, fusing them together to create something uniquely harmonious. The chair is both fragmented and balanced, and serves as an example of environmentally responsible design, as it brings new life to otherwise discarded objects.
This chair's design features a subtle rippling effect near the back of the chair that transitions into an eruption of various parts closer to the bottom. The all-white nature of the chair provides an eerie, ghost-like experience for the onlooker. The Fused Chair combines function and form to serve as a reminder of the potential for eco-design in the home decor world.
