The Ford Bronco Sport has become the first vehicle to feature components crafted out of 100% recycled ocean plastic, according to the automotive brand. The announcement comes as part of the brand's initiative to source parts for its vehicles that are achieved using recycled ocean plastic with the aforementioned SUV being the first to receive the update. The recycled plastic components will come in the form of wiring harness clips to start, which is hoped to be expanded to include wire shields, transmission brackets and floor side rails in the future.
The recycled ocean plastic parts for the Ford Bronco Sport are achieved using discarded fishing nets that have been sourced by DSM Engineering Materials and transformed into plastic pellets and injection-molded by HellermannTyton.
