Architecture studio Wutopia Lab has designed the Flickering Peak art center which is defined by its clear mesh wrapping in the form of mosquito nets around the structure. It is located in Hainan, China, and nestled in an area dubbed the Coffee Village in Wanning. The space is a part of a multipurpose art center that was partially complete with its basement and frame previously in place before the new addition. The transformed structure is a response to the tropical climate.
The founder and chief architect of Qutopia Yu Ting shares the design process with Dezeen, stating "I drew on a concept I had used before, called 'One Pool, Three Mountains. The existing structural system's limitations prevented us from creating more diverse forms, so in the end, it could only be designed as a box. The challenge was how to align this concept with the three buildings and how to reconcile the shape of the mountains with the original boxy structure."
