Bomma Creates the Dynamic Tubular Flare Light Design
Amy Duong — March 19, 2024 — Art & Design
Czech lighting brand Bomma introduces a look at the Flare Light, which is a modular pendant light that is made with hand-pulled crystal-glass rods. It is designed by Kateřina Handlová and it is made up of three glass tubes in total. One is straight and the other two are curved -- Kateřina Handlová made sure that it could be arranged in various forms.
The pendant is constructed using a traditional glassmaking technique where elongating the glass and covering it in small shards is done before dipping it into liquid glass for a smooth layer. Bomma's creative director Václav Mlynář speaks about the light, stating "I'm always surprised by the amount of construction and aesthetic details required for such a simple mounting. The light is designed to provide maximum diversity, and this is why we put great emphasis on the ceiling mounting and its ability to branch the individual pendants."
