In late November, Jones Soda teamed up with SQUARE ENIX Inc. to release the first Final Fantasy-themed soda in the US. Timed to coincide with the launch of FINAL FANTASY XV, the new soda gave fans a unique way to celebrate the game's release.
Dubbed 'Wiz’s Energizing Elixir,' the Final Fantasy-themed soda gained its unique name from an in-game location known as the Wiz Chocobo Post. The drink itself was orange and cream-flavored and sweetened with cane sugar just like Jones Soda's other products. As a special gift to fans, those who showed proof of purchase of FINAL FANTASY XV at Target stores were treated to a free bottle of the energizing soda.
The unique promotion demonstrates how game company can partner with food and beverage brands to create collectors items that will also appeal to non-fans.
