This Mercedes-Benz energy storage unit is a home and business battery energy storage system being launched by Daimler. Developed specifically by Daimler subsidiary Deutsche ACCUmotive, this energy storage unit makes use of lithium-ion batteries in order to store energy generated by wind turbines, solar cells or other kinds of sources.
Unsurprisingly, the contraption leverages technology that was originally developed for use in Mercedes and smart hybrid/electric cars. Battery modules will be available in two models, a 2.5 kWh hour version for homes and a 5.9 kWh model for businesses.
