The EKTO One Boots Feature Motorized Wheels to Keep Users in One Place
Niko Pajkovic — March 3, 2022 — Tech
EKTO VR, a tech startup focused on developing virtual reality wearables, launched the EKTO One Boots, a unique robotic movement system meant to be paired with VR and metaverse applications.
Interestingly, the new system takes the form of a pair of wearable boots with motorized wheels, which EKTO has designed to allow users to walk and move without leaving their play space. As users begin to physically walk, the unique system track's their movement and gently slides them back to their starting point. Of course, the boots translate these real-world movements into VR via the use of Vive trackers, which are attached to each shoe.
As of right now, the EKTO One Boots are being reserved for dedicated commercial VR experiences or industrial training purposes. However, the launch of this one-of-a-kind wearable points to the boundary-pushing potential of future VR and metaverse designs.
