Colin Smith — April 6, 2023 — Business
Best Buy announced that it is extending its in-store e-waste collection service to include a mail-in option. With this new service, customers will be able to mail-in e-waste in dedicated boxes purchased from Best Buy. These boxes retail for $23 for a small box or $30 for a large box. Once the box is acquired, customers can send in as much approved e-waste as they can fit in the box, such as old cellphones or laptops.
It is important to note that Best Buy does not offer financial compensation for items submitted through this program. Rather, Best Buy is providing a service that recycles and repurposes viable e-waste while properly disposing of those that cannot be recycled, which is a positive contribution to the environment. To date, Best Buy claims it has recycled over 2.7 million pounds of e-waste.
