The new SmartNews discovery feature will present users with articles from multiple political points of view. The feature is titled News From All Sides, and it can be accessed in the politics menu, which is located in the SmartNews App. People on the SmartNews platform are able to toggle a slider, in order to sort articles form an event into five different categories. The categories range from liberal to conservative. The new feature is available in the US and the company has indicated that it will roll out to other locations as the company learns how to best implement it.
The feature is intended for users who would like to see multiple points of view related to a news story. However the SmartNews Vice President of Product, Jeannie Yang, indicates that users can sometimes be overwhelmed by conducting online searches.
