The Disco Volante turntable has been designed by Oscar Olsson as an industrial piece of audio equipment for the home that transforms the humble solution into a true work of art. The unit maintains a wall-mounted profile that eliminates the traditional components that one would find with a record player and incorporates see-through components like the platter. This gives the industrial audio equipment a decidedly eye-catching profile even when not in use to give it a true flying saucer aesthetic, which is what it's named after.
Olsson spoke on the conceptual Disco Volante turntable saying, "With Disco Volante I wanted to utilize each material’s unique properties, and by doing so letting them largely influence the form. It offers a rigid foundation for the turntable, meanwhile the molded, funky plastic tonearm housing plays the main role visually. The overall proportions and composition were also well thought out to aesthetically create a well-balanced architecture.”
