Brazilian artist Laurindo Feliciano uses vintage ads and images from old magazines to create stunning digital collage illustrations that exude nostalgic memories. While they are fascinating from an aesthetic standpoint, the collages standout based on their clever integration of philosophical subject matter.
Trained in architecture initially, Feliciano has built an enormous collection of old magazines from which he sources his images. He scans the desired image and works with it in Photoshop in order to create layers of meaning.
By working with old images, Feliciano aims to demonstrate and translate the newly acquired meaning for the symbols he reinterprets. Feliciano has been able to communicate his themes effectively enough to earn commissioned projects with brands like Nestle, Kiehl's and La Blogotheque.
