Montreal architect studio Diandra Maselli Architect has taken over a renovation project that transforms what was a century-old home in the city for founder Diandra Maselli and her family. She brings a modern touch to the space after acquiring the property before the pandemic in 2020 and has faced various challenges in the renovation process with the historic structure.
Maselli shares, "The house had its fair share of obstacles – including structural decay, carpenter ants, mice, water infiltration, foundation holes, and asbestos abatement. However, amidst these challenges, there was a silver lining – the extensive demolition and incorporation of a steel structure paved the way for a tailor-made renovation, envisioned to meet modern needs and newly unfolding realities."
