Don't judge a book by its cover -- a lesson one can quickly learn form the Devil's Pet Candle, which looks adorable one minute and rather morbid the next.
The luminary was made by Thorunn Arnadottir as a piece about dual meanings and irony. The artist began this project by sculpting a feline skeleton from metal and then covering it with a thick coating of wax. Some careful chiseling cut the pink candle into the shape of a cat, completely masking its menacing insides.
As the candle melts and the wax drips away, the framework beneath the image of innocence reveals the dark side of the furry creature. Continuing to let the Devil's Pet Candle burn will even eventually set fire to the critter's beloved yarn ball, which is too, an extension of the wick.
