DHaus Designs the Datum Victorian Maisonette in London

Architecture firm DHaus has brought attention to the full-width skylight at the Datum House to bring light into the extension in North London. The space is complete with a palette of pale brick detailed with oak and plaster materials. The expansion takes place at the lower ground-floor level and it has room for another bedroom. Preciously, it was organized with a kitchen at the front and a dim living space at the back.
The co-founder of DHaus, Daniel Woolfson speaks to Dezeen about the design process, sharing "The design not only addressed the clients' desire to bring light deep into the house but also created a sense of openness that's rarely found in lower ground floor spaces. We tried to separate the facade wall from the main structure with a full-width, wall-to-wall skylight, which created an optical illusion that makes one feel as though you're almost outside looking to the garden."
