It’s pretty safe to say that Daphne Guinness is more interesting, better dressed and just overall a lot cooler than most people, and the Daphne Guinness for MAC Cosmetics collection solidifies her place in my list of fashion icons (as if her place wasn’t solidified already).
The heiress, fashion designer, model and muse is not your average cosmetics collaboration. According to MAC, Guinness was “personally mixing palettes of differing hues” and really threw herself into the project, just like she does with every other project she takes on.
Guinness got her inspiration in unique places, such as “[t]he stories and influences of her life: the whispered luxury of an antique Chinese porcelain vase, the way the light illuminates the clouds of her childhood home in Northern Spain. Inspirations range from the blues of Duccio, to the discovery in the 18th century of Prussian blue, to pigeon’s blood and the watery greens reminiscent of a Whistler painting, to how the intricate wings of a butterfly resemble the images of deepest space.”
