Munarq, a local studio in rural Mallorca, was responsible for creating this art gallery from a converted farmhouse.
The unique space was for a client who wanted both a work area and an exhibition space. The existing farmhouse would have been too small to house all of the client's needs so the team decided to create an extension. In designing the extension however, designers did not want to take away from the beautiful traditional stone wall that covers the house's exterior.
The result is a wonderful fusion of traditional and contemporary architecture. The functional extension is aesthetically simple and does not obstruct too much from the original house's facade. The interior of the converted farmhouse was reworked to increase the amount of light brought in as well as to provide a better flow into the extension.
