The Concave Bookcase looks like something that was created for the 'Matrix' trilogy. The film is known for its reality bending scenes and that is exactly how these shelving units could be described. Yet the Concave Bookcase's illusory existence is due entirely to its design and not the idea that the world is simply a fabricated reality.
Designed by Simon Pengelly of Joined + Jointed, a design collective based in London, England, the Concave Bookcase appears to bend outwards. When flanking interior of a living room, it gives the perception that a person is gazing at the scene through a fish eye camera lens. Although relatively simple, the Concave Bookcase has been transformed from a utilitarian piece of furniture into something a lot more exciting and mysterious. It is made out of walnut.
