AART Wraps the Cold War Museum Regan Vest in Black Metal
Amy Duong — October 8, 2024 — Art & Design
Architecture firm AART has finished the design of the Cold War Museum Regan Vest in Denmark. It is defined by black metal paneling and shutters in order to bring a stealthy aesthetic. The team wanted to reflect the secretive nature of the bunker that once was and to do so, the team clad four blocks of the space in a black-coated steel paneling with the intention that it would turn a rusty red over time.
AART partners Anders Tyrrestrup and Nicolaj Thunbo shares with Dezeen, "The architectural solution presents four matte-black boxes, each a deliberate abstraction that guards the secrets within and behind. This approach piques visitor curiosity from the moment of arrival, framing the experience with an aura of mystique and historical gravitas. These enigmatic volumes integrate seamlessly into the visitor's journey, ensuring a continuous narrative of suspense and historical depth."
