7-Eleven is succeeding as the first convenience store delivery service to utilize a drone to drop off coffee and donuts to consumers thanks to a partnership with the tech brand Flirtey. Together the store chain and Flirtey have successfully delivered morning treats via an autonomous aircraft in Reno, Nevada.
The collaborative project utilizes Flitery's drones to drop off products such as coffee, sandwiches, candy and pastry put together and available in-store by 7-Eleven directly to the doorsteps of consumers. The drones flew autonomously for up to a mile to deliver the foods in two container units to keep the items fresh and the solids and liquids separate.
The operation speaks to how drones can be used to simplify morning rituals, such as picking up coffee.
