I am not big into bags, but I like to think that the ones I do have a pretty awesome. But nothing thumbs its nose at luxury, high priced totes than coconut purses, cheap and manufactured using local parts.
Created on the island of Lamu off the coast of Kenya, these coconut purses are a simple as taking a coconut shell, sawing it in half and attaching a zipper to it. Aside from being strictly for tourists, the purses illustrate ingenuity with regards to utilizing natural resources, and eco-friendliness as no part of the coconut is wasted.
