Cloud Skippers Communities Live Sustainably Suspended in Mid-Air
Amelia Roblin — December 10, 2011 — Eco
Enthusiastic hot air ballooners out there would be ever content, should this Cloud Skippers concept come to fruition. The proposal envisions clusters of floating saucer-like homes that flow around the Earth while caught in tropospheric jet streams.
Essentially, these suspended pods would be living machines, able to harness the energy and resources of nature, grow their own food and furnish their occupants with common comforts and breathtaking views. Every aircraft would be connected to a line of hardwearing cables, leading up to the expansive set of layered wings which glide through the air above the mackerel sky.
Gretchen Stump has dreamed up entire communities of Cloud Skippers that can drift together with the common fascination for the whimsical and changeable lifestyle. What a compelling way to see the world from your very own home.
