Brooklyn-based designer and welder Micah Rosenblatt introduces a look at the City Block series, which is a 16-piece range of work defined by its sculptural aesthetic. It was seen as a part of his first solo exhibition that took place at the Front. The objects are made from a wide array of materials including a plethora of stee, bright glass block, and upholstery for a touch of softness.
All of these form together to explore the idea of modernity and myth -- mainly, it is inspired by New York City's architecture. The designer notes, “I love walking around New York City, getting lost, and simply looking up at the architecture in dialogue. There are so many weird facades, architectural compositions, and connections. I wanted to take this dramatic and industrial scenery, and bring it to a smaller, domestic scale.”
