'Travel Alberta' recently launched a new campaign that allows users to choose activities for their vacation based on photos they find on Instagram. Most people know the feeling of scrolling through their Instagram feed, only to come across envy-inducing shots from a friend's latest adventure. This campaign capitalizes on the power of social media by using those same pictures to help users plan their own trip.
Travel Alberta's new campaign is called 'Instatrip' and it was designed by the Amsterdam-based ad agency 'Eigen Fabrikaat.' Instatrip functions as a travel planner that draws inspiration from social media. Those who access Instatrip can use the service to pick a different winter activity for each portion of their Alberta trip. Users can choose activities for their trip based on all of the stunning Instagram photos taken throughout the province. After planning their social media-inspired vacation, users are entered into a draw to actually embark on the adventure they have planned.
The Instatrip campaign launched in the Netherlands last month and so far more than 1,200 individuals have planned their own Instagram-inspired adventure.
