Protein-rich diets have surged in popularity over the past several years, which is seeing more brands than ever adapt to ever-changing eating habits with new products like the Cheerios Protein breakfast cereal. The product features the signature format of the original Cheerios with their ring-shaped pieces, but enhances it with eight-grams of protein per serving. The cereal comes in two flavor options including Cinnamon and Strawberry, and is arriving in the US market in large boxes and family-sized boxes priced at $5.39 and $5.69, respectively.
Vice President and Business Unit Director, Morning Foods at General Mills Emilie Knox spoke on the Cheerios Protein breakfast cereal saying, "As protein continues to be an important priority for people of all ages, we specifically created Cheerios Protein with families in mind. We wanted it to taste great and to preserve the iconic Cheerios shape, but with a good source of protein, all in a convenient cereal we know everyone at the breakfast table will love – turning all mornings into good mornings.”
