Designer Charlotte Kingsnorth creates her designs around the Slash theme, which refers to the cutting of a knife. Her furniture is shaped in a way that looks as though it's been sliced in multiple directions.
Kingsnorth's video is an artistic elaboration of the idea behind the theme that is reflected directly on her furniture designs. While the cuts create seating on the sofa design, the same slashes created a magazine holder on the Ottoman.
"A bold slash length-ways with a knife reveals the hidden layers inside; an eruption, like a wound, changes the form in a permanent way. A new structure has been carved, which functions as a seat and ottoman," the artist elaborates on her site.
Based on a novel and unusual idea, this thematic furniture design combines artistry and functionality.
