The Chainmaille Chess Set is about as medieval as board games get. This armored chess set was created by David Gutenkauf of the Etsy store CreativeReflections. Gutenkauf specializes in chainmaille and has created everything from jewelry to juggling balls out of the stuff. The Chainmaille Chess Set isn't made for combat, although it could likely serve as a suit of armor in a pinch.
The chess set is 12" x 12" and weighs three pounds. The pieces are made from marble and wrapped in chainmaille to help keep things even. Gutenkauf has even created enough pawns to allow you to play checkers on the board, should you tire of playing chess. A handcrafted chess set made out of chainmaille doesn't come cheap, as you'd expect. Gutenkauf is letting go of his one-of-a-kind creation for the kingly sum of $750.00.
