The Cetrovo 1.0 Carbon Star Rapid Rail has been launched in Qingdao, China as a new subway train that's crafted with an unlikely material that makes it lighter and more resistant to every damage: carbon fiber.
The train is reported to feature carbon fiber material for the primary load-bearing structures such as the body and trucks. This helps contribute towards a 25% reduction in body weight when compared to conventional steel and aluminum train alternatives to thus prioritize increased overall efficiency as well as durability against everyday use. The trucks contribute towards a 50% reduction in weight which, when combined with the body, contributes towards an 11% overall decrease in weight from conventional trains.
The Cetrovo 1.0 Carbon Star Rapid Rail is also equipped with an intelligence maintenance platform called SmartCare to monitor the train for health and diagnostic issues in real-time.
