The 'Casa Covida' has been designed by Emerging Objects as a naturalistic dwelling constructed in the desert using a mix of materials to create a durable, eye-catching and functional space for escaping from society.
The home was constructed using a three-axis Selective Compliance Articulated Robot Arm (SCARA) that used a mixture of sand, clay, silt and water. Three spaces within the home are present including a sleeping space, a central space and a bathing space to make it functional for escaping city life, which is reflected in the name -- 'Casa Covida' -- which refers to the ongoing pandemic and the Spanish word for cohabitation.
The 'Casa Covida' home is situated in the desert of San Luis Valley, Colorado and features an inflatable pink roof in the middle that can be used during inclement weather or to keep the heat of a fire inside. This also gives the building a flowering cactus-like appearance.
