IKEA Debuted its 'Buy Back & Resell' Program in the United States

IKEA launched a new program in the United States named 'Buy Back & Resell.' This program offers 'IKEA Family' loyalty members the ability to return used furniture for a certain percentage of the original cost. While customers can currently return any IKEA product within one year of purchasing it, the Buy Back & Resell program will have a much longer applicable window.
The Swedish furniture giant stated that the products it is most interested in include tables, bookcases, shelves, drawers, cabinets, and other items that are largely made out of wood. This is because, even if the product is in poor condition, wood is one of the many materials that the brand can recycle.
In order to sell an item back to IKEA, customers must fill out an online form. Once filling out the form, customers can bring their item to an IKEA location for inspection and processing. Following the item's return, IKEA will sell it to customers in the as-is section, or it will recycle the item for parts and materials.
