Design firm SmithMatthias has designed the Bruton sofa system for British brand Morgan. It is a sustainable design with is made with a foam-free modular touch, as it is for the contract market. These spaces are often associated with a clinical feel, so Morgan launched the modular option as a more domestic and softer alternative. It comes in single and two-seater modules along with inline coffee table and ottomans.
It is notably made with natural layered materials, including wool, pocket springs, features, and coconut coir. SmithMatthias co-founder Gemma Matthias speaks about the design, "With Bruton, we've pushed traditional upholstery materials, such as springs and wool, to their limits, redefining their use in a contemporary way. This innovative approach brings us full circle, using heritage techniques to drive modern design."
